Shopping for a mattress? Ever thought of switching to a memory foam mattress instead of a conventional coil spring? As a newer line of evolution in the mattress industry, buying and sleeping on a memory mattresses have several health benefits. This includes getting better cushioning and contour capabilities than a spring type of mattress.

For those of you who have been experiencing constant spine discomfort during sleeping, then memory foam mattress would be a right choice for you.

Well, if you are serious about getting a memory foam mattress, you need to understand some important mattress jargons when it comes to buying a mattress. In this article, I will share with you some tips on how you can buy it right the first time.

Dense or Thin

Depending on whether you are comfortable with denser or thinner materials, memory type of foam offers both choices. The denser mattresses are much pricier and can range up to 5 pounds per cubic foot. But if you are have softer bone structures and feel more comfortable sleeping in a thinner ones then you may want to opt for a less dense range of foam – ranging from 2.5 to 3.5 pounds per cubic foot.

Layers

To many people, the thicker the mattresses, the more comfy and lavish a mattress appears to them. Hence, if you prefer to sleep on multiple layers of foam, you will be pleased to know that most memory foam mattresses comes in layers with at least 5″ base layer. The top range can be thicker by an inch or two.

Budget

If you have a modest budget, then you may have some difficulty in landing a high quality product to your liking. Indeed, the average pricing can range from $450 to $1000 depending on the sizes and make. You can expect to pay even more if you are looking for an expensive brand or a super large California king size mattress.

Do not despair though. You still can own a quality memory bedding set. If you are really on a tight budget, try looking around for retail stores offering display sets or second tier stores offering sales to entice shoppers. Alternatively, if you are willing to settle for a lower quality, you can still opt for a lower-density mattress. It would still provide you the comfort at a lower cost cheaper but yet gives you more value for your money.
