Random cross linking approach:

Top down Approach:

In this approach we do not use older posts but we use newer posts for this purpose. Whenever we create new posts, we put contextual links in those new posts for the older posts and by this way we can create two to three contextual links with the older posts. Only important thing in this regard is that we should not alter older posts for just the sake of placing contextual links but we should use these links very articulately.

Both approaches discussed above are very useful for attracting heavy traffic to the website but the second approach regarding top down approach is more professional and it is highly recommended by the professionals.
