Taubah And Its Concept In The Holy Quran

Published by cyberdesignz | Filed under Qur'an, Quran Education, Quran Recitation, Religion

Taubah is not just a simple act where one decides to repent and ask for forgiveness. It is a major decision where an individual realizes the problems with the current action and decides to adopt a different path. Taubah also does not mean negating the past, rather refers to a promise or contract for the future. Taubah is also a personal act and one may not share it with anyone but Allah. Allah says in the Quran,

“Before this We made a covenant with Adam. But he forgot his part. He was of poor resolve!”

Online Quran teaching and learning also highlights the following verse of the Quran,

“Adam then sought forgiveness in the words he learnt from God Who turned to him in compassion and granted him reprieve. He is most compassionate and forgiving” — 2:37.

For Taubah, you may not require making a confession to get forgiveness. You may also not need to perform any other action to show that you really repent you previous acts. Other religions might have punishments for wrong acts, but Taubah means dealing with the unfairness of the act and seeking the forgiveness of Allah to satisfy the conscience.

In essence, Taubah means identifying with the wrongness of doing something and staying determined to not repeat the action ever again. Once this decision is made, the individual may seek the forgiveness of the creator.

Allah knows that human beings have a tendency to stumble when it comes to temptations and desires. However, Allah is the most Merciful and Benovelent and He Graciously forgives His slaves. Therefore, do not hesitate to seek forgiveness from your Creator for He will Graciously forgive all your past sins.
