In life almost all of us come across things that catch our immediate attention. Sometimes it can be a scenic view, sometimes an event, or sometimes a melodious tone. In fact, for Muslims, a melodious tone comprising of words of Quran definitely serves as attention grabber.

Well, you guessed it right, we are talking about nothing else, but Quran recitation, an act that not only pleases us humans, emanating peace and tranquility into our souls, but something also cherished greatly by Allah Almighty and His Apostle Muhammad (PBUH).

Recitation of Quran is one of the finest practices of Islam, as evident to us by words of Allah Almighty mentioned in Qur’an, as well as words of Muhammad (PBUH) conveyed to us via hadith. First, have a look at what Allah Almighty says about recitation of Qur’an in the following verse:

Al-Kahf [18:27] And recite what has been revealed to you (O Muhammad SAW) of the Book (the Qur’ân) of your Lord (i.e. recite it, understand and follow its teachings and act on its orders and preach it to men). None can change His Words, and none will you find as a refuge other than Him.

Now, look at what Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) states about Quran Recitation:

Go on reciting the Quran and continue ascending the stages of Jannah; and recite it in the slow manner as you had been reciting it in the worldly life: your final abode will be where you reach at the time of the last aayah of your recitation”.

May Allah extend His favor upon us in following the words of wisdom from Him and His Prophet Muhammad (PBUH).
